I'm losing. How do I come back?

Conqora FAQ · updated 2026-10-16

Short answer: Stabilise one border with a Defense Post and an alliance, move to the sea with ports and boats, save gold for a silo and a hydrogen bomb, and coordinate with everyone else against the leader using the Target mark. Many games are won by the player who was third at minute ten.

Step 1: Stop the bleeding

Step 2: Go to sea

A small player with three ports has the income of a medium one. Trade ships don't care how big your land is. Warships in front of your ports keep them alive.

Step 3: Make the leader everyone's problem

Step 4: The nuclear comeback

Step 5: Outlast

On time-limited games the biggest empire wins when the clock runs out. A player who survives with steady growth while the top two fight often finishes first.

Worked scenario: 12% against a 55% leader

You hold 12% of the map. The leader holds 55% and needs 80% to win. Two other players sit at 15% and 10%. Here's a realistic comeback, step by step.

Minutes 0–2 of the comeback: stabilise. A Defense Post costs 50K and makes land within 30 tiles five times harder to take. Put one on the collapsing border. Drop your attack ratio with Z so you stop feeding troops into a losing fight, and let your troops regrow toward about 40% of your maximum, where growth is fastest.

Minutes 2–5: find friends. Send alliance requests to the 15% and 10% players. They are looking at the same leaderboard you are. Mark the leader as Target and send "Target" in quick chat.

Minutes 5–10: build an economy that doesn't need land. Ports cost 125K for the first, doubling per port and factory up to 1M. A trade ship pays 100,000 gold plus 100 per tile travelled, and the port bonus grows up to 3x the more ports you own. A trip of 400 tiles pays 140,000 before the bonus. Small land, big sea income.

Minutes 10–15: the strike. A silo (1M) deep in your land, behind a SAM. Press T to find the leader's SAM cover. If their core is protected, an air raid (150K) from a carrier destroys the SAM first. Then a hydrogen bomb (5M) on their densest city cluster, timed with your allies' strikes so their SAMs can't reload between bombs.

After the blast: push. Send your troops into the edge of the damaged area, not into the fallout itself. Your allies do the same from their side. A leader who just lost a region and its troops often drops below 50% within minutes.

Why the leader is vulnerable

A player at 55–75% of the map has land everywhere, which means their SAMs are spread thin and their borders touch everyone. You are small, which means your SAMs can cover everything you own. Every other player wants the leader stopped. Use that.

Comeback mistakes

Beginner vs advanced

Beginners: the most important comeback skill is not panicking. Lower your attack ratio, put up a Defense Post, ally a neighbour, and keep growing slowly. Plenty of matches end with the patient player still alive and the aggressive one wiped out.

Advanced players: play the leaderboard. Stay second until the late game, keep a MIRV fund going with your allies' donations, and know the timers: a silo fires every 75 seconds (45 with fast economy), a carrier strike every three silo cooldowns or so, an alliance needs renewing every five minutes.

Time-limited games

With the 30 min limit modifier, the biggest empire wins when the clock runs out. That changes the maths: you don't need 80%, you need to be first at the buzzer. In the last few minutes:

More questions

Can you win Conqora if you are losing?

Yes. The win needs 80% of the land (95% in team games), and a leader at 60% still has to take a lot from players who can work together. On time-limited games the biggest empire at the end wins, whoever was ahead at minute ten.

Should I nuke the leader or attack them by land?

Both, in that order. A nuke kills troops and buildings in its radius; a land attack straight after takes the land before they refill it.

What if nobody wants to ally with me?

Make it worth it: donate gold or troops to the player holding the leader back, and avoid ever getting the traitor mark. More tips: how alliances work, strategy tips.
