Conqora FAQ · updated 2026-10-16
Most Conqora matches last between 10 and 30 minutes. That is the whole point: the depth of a strategy game in the time of a coffee break.
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Map size | Small maps (ranked maps, Britannia, Italia) end in 10–15 minutes. The World map and the Giant World Map run longer. |
| Players | More players means more borders and more alliances, which slows the leader down. |
| Fast economy | More gold sooner: buildings and nukes arrive earlier and the game speeds up. |
| Instant build | No construction time: very aggressive matches. |
| No nukes | Late games stall more often without nukes to break borders. |
| Time limit | Some quick games and lobbies end after a fixed time (for example 30 minutes); the biggest player wins. |
| Teams | Team games often end faster because teams snowball together. |
Ranked maps are built for one, two or three players per side and have no nations, so the fight starts after about two minutes of expansion. Expect 10–20 minutes. Leaving early counts as a loss.
A public quick game starts every few minutes on a rotating map. The next game and the two after it are shown on the main menu with their maps, modes and a countdown, so you can plan your break around them.
Yes, at any time, from the exit button in the corner. In quick games nothing is lost except the match. In ranked a leave counts as a loss. Private lobbies return you to the lobby after the match so your group can play again.
Single-player games can be paused with P. Multiplayer games run in real time and can't be paused.
The exact timing depends on the map and modifiers, but most public games follow the same rhythm:
| Phase | Roughly when | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Spawn | First seconds | Pick and adjust your starting spot until the countdown ends |
| Land rush | First few minutes | Everyone expands into empty land and territories; first City and Port |
| First contact | Minutes 5 to 10 | Borders meet, alliances form, trade ships start paying |
| Mid-game | Minutes 8 to 15 | The big players meet; warships, Defense Posts and the first silos |
| Endgame | Minute 15 onward | Nukes, SAMs and carriers; someone pushes toward 80% |
On small maps everything is compressed; on the World map the land rush alone gives you a couple of minutes before you meet anyone.
If you search for something like "quick strategy game for a lunch break", the menu already gives you most of what you need. The next public game and two upcoming ones are listed with their map, modes and a countdown.
| You have | Good choice |
|---|---|
| About 15 minutes | A ranked match on a small map, or a public game with fast economy or instant build |
| About 30 minutes | Any public game; look for the 30 min limit tag if you want a guaranteed end |
| A whole evening | Several public games, or a private lobby with friends where everyone returns to the lobby after each match |
| A few spare minutes | Single player, which you can pause with P |
Ranked games are short by design: small maps, no nations, two to six players. That also means leaving costs more. Leaving counts as a loss, so only queue when you have enough time to finish. A free account is needed for ranked, and the five placement matches set your starting position from a rating of 1000.
Longer games aren't wasted time for your progress. Every match gives 50 XP, up to 100 XP for the time you spent in it, 25 XP for each player you finished above, and 100 XP for a win. Ranked games give double XP. With 500 XP per battle pass tier, a long, solid game moves you forward noticeably. See the battle pass.
On small ranked maps a one-sided game can end quickly once one side breaks through. Most still last at least ten minutes because the expansion phase comes first.
The player with the most land wins. In the last minutes, protecting what you hold matters more than risky new attacks.
Plan on a left match being over for you. In ranked it counts as a loss. Find more about ranked rules.
A 10 to 30 minute match with no download is the reason many people play it in breaks. Just check you have enough time before a ranked game.
