How do I play with friends?

Conqora FAQ · updated 2026-10-16

Short answer: Create a lobby and send the invite link (or the six-letter code); friends join straight in, even as guests. Add friends with your friend code or link from the Friends panel, invite online friends with one click (they get a card in the corner of their screen), and queue ranked duo or trio as a party.

Conqora is at its best with friends: on the same team, as rivals, or as allies who will definitely betray each other. Here is every way to play together.

Private lobbies

  1. Press Create Lobby in the main menu.
  2. Pick the map (any official or community map), free-for-all or teams, the economy, nations, territories and rules.
  3. Share the invite link or the six-letter code shown in the corner.
  4. Friends open the link and land in your lobby, account or not.
  5. Start the match. Afterwards everyone returns to the same lobby for a rematch.

Lobby cards show each player's banner, level and name style. The host can promote another player to leader.

Friends list

Open Friends in the main menu:

Inviting a friend into your game

From a lobby or ranked party, press Invite next to an online friend. They get a card in the bottom-right corner of their screen with your name, the lobby, a 30-second countdown and Join / Decline buttons. It doesn't cover the screen, and during a match it shows at the top instead.

Ranked with friends

Open Ranked, create a party for duo or trio, and invite friends with the link, code or Invite button. The whole party queues together and plays on the same side. See how ranked works.

Clans

For a regular group, found a clan: a shared tag before your names in every match, a clan banner and picture, clan chat and clan XP. See clans.

Setting up your first game night, step by step

If you have never hosted before, this order of operations saves the usual five minutes of "which link?" confusion.

  1. Pick one person as host. The host creates the lobby and controls the settings, so it should be whoever has the most stable connection and knows the modes best.
  2. Before sending anything, choose the map and rules. Changing the map after everyone has joined is fine, but agreeing first avoids a vote that takes longer than the match.
  3. Paste the invite link into your group chat. For anyone on a phone or reading the code aloud over voice chat, the six-letter code is quicker.
  4. While people arrive, use the Invite button next to any friend who shows as online. They get the corner card with Join and Decline and 30 seconds to answer.
  5. Check the lobby cards: once every name you expect is there, start.
  6. After the match everyone lands back in the same lobby. Tweak one setting, start again.

If the host has to leave, promote another player to leader first so the group keeps its lobby.

Choosing settings for your group

Private lobbies let you set the map, free-for-all or teams, the economy, nations, territories and rules. A few combinations that work well:

GroupSuggested setupWhy it works
2 friends, one newTeams, both on the same side, a mid-size map with nationsThe new player learns from watching you instead of being eliminated in minute three
3–4 friends, mixed skillFree-for-all with nations on EuropeNations keep everyone busy, so the strongest player can't just hunt the weakest
4–6 friendsTeams 2v2 or 3v3, 95% to winPermanent allies and a clear objective
A big groupFree-for-all on the World map, 30 min limitSpace for everyone and a guaranteed end time
Short on timeInstant build plus 5M starting goldStraight into the late game; nukes within minutes

Modifiers stack, so you can combine fog of war with hotspots, or no ports with no nukes for a pure land war. Hover any mode tag on the menu to see what it does.

Starting gold modifiers (1M, 5M, 25M) apply to players, not to territories. With 25M everyone can open with a Missile Silo and SAMs, which makes for a very different match.

Playing with friends who have never played

Keeping free-for-all with friends fun

Alliances among friends in a free-for-all are where most of the drama happens. A few house rules groups often agree on:

Quick chat phrases and emojis are all you get in a match, so most groups keep a voice call running alongside.

More questions

Can my friends join without an account?

Yes for private lobbies: anyone with the invite link or code can join as a guest. Ranked parties need a free account for every member.

How many friends can play in one lobby?

Public quick games take up to 30 players; private lobbies are made for groups of friends with any map you choose. Pick a larger map when more people are joining.

Why didn't my friend see my invite?

Invites only go to friends who are online. Check their status in the Friends panel, and remember the card lasts 30 seconds. The invite link or code always works as a fallback.

Can we play the same public game together?

For a match where you're guaranteed to play together, on the same side or as rivals, use a private lobby or a ranked party. See Conqora with friends and how alliances work.
