Can I play Conqora on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Conqora was built to be played on phones and tablets as well as on PC, in the same matches, against the same players.

Touch controls

The phone interface has a compact HUD with a dock for buildings and weapons, sheets that slide up for details, and a quick-attack button.

Android

Open conqora.io in Chrome, Samsung Internet or Firefox. Use the browser menu's "Add to Home screen" to get an icon that opens the game full screen.

iPhone and iPad

Open conqora.io in Safari. Tap the share button, then "Add to Home Screen". On iPad you can also use a mouse or trackpad for PC-style controls.

Tips for mobile

• Use Wi-Fi or a stable connection for ranked: stability matters more than speed.
• Turn the phone sideways on smaller screens for a wider view of the map.
• Close other apps if the phone gets warm; the game is light but a dozen background tabs are not.
• Lower the attack ratio before tapping fast: on a touch screen you tend to click more often than with a mouse.

Do mobile players play against PC players?

Yes. Everyone plays in the same matches. There is no separate mobile server and no mobile-only version of the game.

Your first match on a phone, step by step

1. Open conqora.io in your phone's browser.
2. Add it to your home screen if you want the app-like full-screen window.
3. Type a name, pick a flag, and tap Join game.
4. When the map appears, tap where you want to start. You can tap again to move your spawn until the countdown ends.
5. Set the attack ratio slider at the bottom of the screen. Around 30% is a comfortable start on touch.
6. Tap land next to your border to expand. Pinch to zoom and drag to look around.
7. Open the dock to place a City and a Port: pick the building, tap to preview, tap again to place.
8. Long-press a neighbour to open the action menu and send an alliance request.

Doing the advanced things on touch

Everything you can do with a keyboard is available on touch, just through menus instead of shortcuts.

Up to three boats can be at sea at once. Boats land on any coast and follow rivers inland, which is very handy on maps like South America.

Phone vs tablet vs PC

Many players start a match on PC at home and play quick games on the phone during the day. With a free account, your level, items and rank follow you to every device.

Battery and data

• Data: after the first load caches the game and the map, a match only sends players' actions. That is light enough for a mobile connection, but stability matters more than speed, so a weak signal is worse than a slow one.
• Battery: strategy games keep the screen on for 10 to 30 minutes, so start with a reasonable charge for a long World map game.
• Heat: closing background apps and tabs keeps the phone cooler and the frame rate steady.

Best maps on mobile

Smaller maps are easier to read on a phone screen. Britannia and Italia are compact with a lot of coast; ranked maps are small and built for a few players. The World map works well too, but zooming in and out is part of playing it. On older phones, the Giant World Map may drop frames late in a match, so save it for a tablet or PC.

Common mobile mistakes

• Tapping too fast at a high ratio. Every tap sends a share of your troops. Several quick taps at 50% can empty your border. Lower the slider first.
• Forgetting about long-press. Alliances, emojis and targets are all in the action menu.
• Playing ranked on a train. If the connection drops and you can't get back, leaving counts as a loss. Play quick games on the move and ranked on stable Wi-Fi.
• Portrait mode on a small screen. Turning the phone sideways shows more of the map.

Is there a Conqora app to download?

No app is needed. The browser version is the full game; adding it to your home screen gives you an icon that opens it full screen.

Can I play Conqora on a Chromebook or tablet with a keyboard?
