Conqora vs Territorial.io: which is better for me?
Conqora comparison · updated 2026-10-16
Short answer: Both are free browser games about growing your territory. Conqora plays on real world maps and adds a full strategy layer: cities, ports, trade ships, trains, warships, aircraft carriers, atom and hydrogen bombs, SAMs, timed alliances, fog of war, hotspots, ranked duo/trio and clans.
Territorial.io made the "click to expand your land" idea popular, and it's a great quick game. Conqora starts from the same instant, readable idea and turns it into a real-time strategy game on real maps.
What feels the same
You are in a match in seconds, in the browser, no download.
You grow by attacking the land next to you with a share of your troops.
The biggest empire wins.
What Conqora adds
Real geography. The World map with 61 nations, the Giant World Map with 97, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, Oceania and more, with rivers, straits, mountain passes and islands that shape every war.
Buildings and an economy. Cities raise your troop cap, ports send trade ships, factories run trains, defense posts make borders five times harder to take.
A navy. Boats that land anywhere and sail rivers, warships that control straits and capture trade ships, aircraft carriers with air raids and nuke bombers.
Nukes and air defence. Atom bombs, hydrogen bombs and MIRVs with fallout, against SAM launchers. Press T to see every SAM range.
Diplomacy. Five-minute alliances with shared vision and trade bonuses, traitor marks, embargoes, troop and gold donations, target marking.
Modes and ranked. Fog of war, hotspots, fast economy, teams, ranked solo/duo/trio with tiers.
Clans, friends and a map editor.
Which should you play?
If you want a pure 2-minute expansion game, you already know where to find it. If you want the same instant start with an hour's worth of strategy compressed into 20 minutes, try a match of Conqora.
Territorial.io is a trademark of its respective owner. Conqora is independent and not affiliated with it.
Who should play which?
Both games start the same way: a dot on the map and a click to grow. Where they lead after that is up to you.
You want something quick and light. A pure expansion game is a great way to spend five minutes. Play what you enjoy.
You want more decisions per minute. Conqora layers an economy, a navy and a nuclear endgame on top of the expansion you already know, in matches of 10–30 minutes.
You like real places. Conqora's quick-game maps are real geography: the World, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, Oceania, the Black Sea, Britannia, Italia and more.
You want to play with the same people. Friends lists, invite links, private lobbies, clans and ranked teams make Conqora easy to play as a group.
Switching from Territorial.io: what will feel familiar
Growing by attacking your neighbours with a share of your troops. In Conqora that share is the attack ratio; Z lowers it and X raises it, or use the slider.
Instant browser start. No download, no account needed.
The biggest empire wins. In Conqora that means owning 80% of the land, or being the largest when a time limit ends.
What to learn first
Your expansion instincts are already good. These are the new things that matter most in your first Conqora matches:
Troop regrowth peaks at about 40% of your cap. Sitting at full strength grows almost nothing, so spend troops in waves.
Gold buys buildings. Every tile pays gold each second. Spend it straight away: a City (key 1, 125K) adds 250K troop capacity, and a Port (key 3, 125K) starts sending trade ships.
Water is a road. Click land across the sea to send a boat (up to three at once). Boats land on any coast and follow rivers inland, so a coast is both an opportunity and a border.
Defense posts change borders. Land within 30 tiles of a post is five times harder to take. Don't throw your whole army into one.
Alliances are timed. They last five minutes and can be renewed. Allies can't attack each other.
Your first Conqora match, step by step
Press Join game. A public game starts every few minutes; the menu shows a countdown.
In the spawn phase, pick a spot with empty land and a coast nearby, away from the red pings of other players.
Take the grey land around you at a 30–50% ratio. It's held by passive territories with a troop cap, so it falls fast.
As soon as you have 125K gold, press 1 on your land to build a City. Next, press 3 on the coast for a Port.
When your border meets a player or a nation, lower the ratio to 20–30% and build a Defense Post (4, 50K) on that side.
Right click a neighbour you'd rather not fight and send an alliance request. They have 20 seconds to accept.
Watch the leaderboard. Whoever approaches 80% becomes everyone's target.
Real-world and fictional maps; rivers, straits, mountains and islands matter
More questions
What are some games like Territorial.io?
The browser territory genre includes Territorial.io, OpenFront.io, FrontWars and Conqora. If you want the same instant expansion with buildings, boats, nukes and alliances on real maps, Conqora is worth a match. Our games like OpenFront, FrontWars and Territorial.io page goes further.
Is Conqora harder to learn?
The first minute is the same click-to-grow you already know. The rest arrives gradually: you can play your first match using only expansion, a City and a Port, and pick up the navy and nukes later.
Can I play it on my phone?
Yes, in the mobile browser. Tap to attack, long-press for the action menu, and use the attack-ratio slider at the bottom of the screen.
Is it free?
Yes. The store only sells cosmetics such as banners, territory colours and nuke explosions, and nothing in it affects a match. See is Conqora pay to win?
Mistakes in your first Conqora match
Never building anything. Gold piles up from your land; if it sits in the bank, your neighbours out-grow you with cities and ports.
Ignoring the coast. Boats land on any coast, so an undefended shoreline can lose you a city. Keep 20–30% of your troops at home.
Attacking a Defense Post head on. Land near a post is five times harder to take. Go around it or land behind it by boat.
Fighting everyone. An alliance with one neighbour lets you put your army on the other border.
Forgetting the endgame. Whoever nears 80% will be nuked by someone. A SAM Launcher in front of your cities is cheap insurance.
