Short answer: Conqora is built on the open-source OpenFront engine (MIT licence), so the core rules will feel familiar. On top of it Conqora runs its own servers and adds ranked solo/duo/trio, clans and clan wars, aircraft carriers and bombers, fog of war and hotspots, a GPU renderer, a map editor, friends and invites, and cosmetics.
OpenFront (OpenFront.io) is an open-source real-time strategy game whose engine is published under the MIT licence. Conqora is built on that engine, which is why the core of a match (spawning, expanding, troops, gold, buildings, nukes) will feel familiar if you have played OpenFront. Everything around that core is Conqora's own.
Same foundations
Real-time territory conquest on world and regional maps.
Cities, ports, factories, defense posts, missile silos and SAM launchers.
Atom bombs, hydrogen bombs and MIRVs.
Alliances, traitors, embargoes and donations.
We credit the OpenFront engine in our licence file, as the MIT licence asks, and we are thankful for the work behind it.
What Conqora adds
Its own servers and matchmaking, with public games every few minutes on rotating maps and modifiers.
Ranked solo, duo and trio with ratings, placements, tiers and leaderboards.
Clans with tags, banners, clan pictures that style the tag, chat, XP and clan wars.
Aircraft carriers, air raids and ship-hunting nuke bombers.
Fog of war and hotspots modes.
A SAM range overlay (T) and an orange nuke preview under enemy SAM cover.
Territories that hold land passively instead of raiding players.
A GPU map compositor and a WebAssembly simulation core for smooth late games on integrated graphics.
Friends, friend codes, invite links and corner invite cards.
A map editor and community maps with likes and play counts.
Cosmetics: banners, crowns, territory colours and patterns, building styles, nuke explosions, name colours, badges and a battle pass. Cosmetic only, never pay to win.
A mobile interface built for thumbs.
Is Conqora affiliated with OpenFront?
No. Conqora is an independent game built on the open-source engine. OpenFront is a trademark of its owners.
Both games share the same foundations, so the choice comes down to what you want around the match itself. Plenty of players enjoy both.
You want ranked play with a party. Conqora has solo, duo and trio ranked queues, each with five placement matches and tiers from Bronze to Grandmaster.
You want a clan. Conqora clans have a 2–4 letter tag shown before your name, a banner, a clan picture, clan chat and a clan leaderboard, with clan wars opening soon.
You enjoy the sea. Conqora's aircraft carriers add air raids and ship-hunting nuke bombers to the naval game.
You like variety. Fog of war and hotspots join fast economy, instant build, teams and time limits in the public rotation.
You make maps. Conqora's map editor lets you paint land, water, mountains and rivers, place nations and publish to Community maps.
Switching from OpenFront: what will feel familiar
Because Conqora is built on the OpenFront engine, the rules of a match are close relatives. You'll recognise:
Clicking to expand, with an attack ratio deciding the share of troops per click.
Troops that regrow on their own, fastest at about 40% of your maximum.
Boats that land on any coast, up to three at once.
Cities, ports, factories, defense posts, missile silos and SAM launchers, with prices that rise as you own more of a kind.
Atom bombs, hydrogen bombs and MIRVs, and the fallout they leave.
Alliances, traitor marks, embargoes and donations.
What to learn first
These are the Conqora-specific details that change decisions in your first few matches:
Territories. The empty land is held by passive territories. They only fight other territories, have a troop cap and no starting gold, and their attacks never set off alarms or war lines. Hover a patch of land and the label reads "Territory". See what territories are.
The SAM overlay. Press T to see every SAM range. Under enemy cover your nuke aim turns orange.
SAM numbers. A SAM launcher costs 1.5M (rising by 1.5M each, capped at 3M), hits nukes 80% of the time and bombers 85%, then reloads. Against a MIRV each SAM gets roughly one 50% shot.
Carriers. One per three port levels; a level-3 port allows one on its own. Air Raid 150K, Nuke Bomber 750K, long cooldown of about three silo cooldowns.
Factory scaling. In the classic economy factory levels count in full up to 8, then with diminishing returns. The fast economy is more generous.
Your first match coming from OpenFront
Press Join game. You can play as a guest; the menu lists the next game and two more with countdowns.
Read the mode tags on the game card. Fog of war or hotspots changes your spawn: near a coast for fog, near a gold mine or oil field for hotspots.
Spawn, expand into territory land at 30–50%, and buy your first City and Port as early as you would anywhere else.
When your ports reach three levels in total, consider a carrier. Middle click upgrades a building; a level-3 port counts as three ports.
Before you nuke, press T. If the target is orange, send an Air Raid (R) at the SAM first.

More questions
Is Conqora an OpenFront alternative?
It's a separate game built on the same open-source engine, so it plays in the same style while adding its own servers, modes, ranked queues, clans and cosmetics. If you like OpenFront and want to try something in the same family, Conqora is a natural one to try.
Is Conqora a fork of OpenFront?
Conqora uses the open-source OpenFront engine under its MIT licence and credits it in its licence file. The servers, matchmaking, ranked system, clans, carriers, renderer, map editor and store are Conqora's own work.
Can I use my OpenFront account?
Conqora is an independent game with its own accounts. You don't need one to start: guest play works for public games and lobbies, and a free account unlocks ranked and clans.
Does Conqora play well on phones?
Yes. Tap to attack, long-press for the action menu, pinch to zoom and use the slider at the bottom for the attack ratio. See playing on mobile.
Is there a single player mode?
Yes. Single player works on any map, including community maps, with nations and territories filling the world. Press P to pause whenever you want to study the map or plan a launch.
