Hotspots mode: gold mines and oil fields

Conqora guide · updated 2026-10-14

"Hotspots" is a quick-game modifier that scatters gold mines and oil fields across the land. Whoever owns the tile a hotspot sits on gets its bonus, so the map gains a dozen places worth fighting for. The HUD shows how many of each you hold.

Gold mines

A gold mine pays its owner 7,500 gold every five seconds, roughly one and a half times a player's base income from land. Two mines early double your economy; four mines in the mid-game pay for a hydrogen bomb every few minutes.

Oil fields

An oil field is a military base: the holder's troops grow 25% faster per field. Oil doesn't pay gold, but a player with three fields out-grows anyone around them. The right pairing is gold mines for the builder, oil fields for the fighter; the best players take one of each.

Destroying a hotspot

A hotspot is destroyed after three nukes have landed on it. If a rival holds a mine you can't take by land, three atom bombs remove it from the game for everyone. The destroyed hotspot stays visible as a crater so you know where the fight was.
